Davao City and Manila

Wonderful beaches. Modern City. 2nd to 6th DEC 09.

sunny 30 °C

Day 1

I took a local bus from my lodging in Laguna province to Manila. It was quite fast despite the traffic but we were packed like sardines!! Anyway, when I arrived in Manila, I saw a Pancake House restaurant and ! had our lunch there. Terrific waffles!! I took a taxi to my hotel, which I had pre-booked back in Singapore. I rested after that before I took another cab to Roxas Boulevard where I saw the sunset!! After wandring around, I hired a cab to take me around Malate and after that, he took me to Greenbelt Mall and from there, I walked to the Ayala Triangle Garden where there was a Christmas light show. I had my dinner in greenbelt and then i cab-ed again to Bonifacio High Street where I had my supper at Krispy Kreme. I walked around the shops and the eateries. THis is one of the best places to go when in Manila and there were a lot of foreigners there when I visited it. It was getting late so I somehow managed to get a taxi from there to my hotel. It was around midnight when I arrived at my hotel.

Day 2

I had my breakfast in the hotel and took a cab to the Philippine Airlines Terminal to catch my early morning flight to
Davao City. My flight was delayed by 2 hours [i think] so I had another breakfast in the airport itself. The ride was smooth and I could see the islands from the window. I arrived in Davao at past 1pm. From there, I went in to my hotel and I had my lunch there. I rested after that and when I woke up in the evening, I decided to go to the Lau Pa Sat seafood restaurant. THe food was nice and the restaurant was clean. I walked to the main road after that [with a few beggars begging me because I look like a local] and took a taxi back to my hotel.

DAy 3

AFter i had my breakfast, I headed straight to the jetty. From there, I took a boat going to Paradise Island Beach REsort in Samal Island. The water was clear and the air was very very fresh. The beach was almost empty as it was a weekday so we had an enjoyable time in the water. The sand is smooth but the big dead corals are very sharp. I had my snack and I went back to catch the boat back. From the jetty, I took another cab to Chippens Restaurant, across the Ateneo de Davao University where we had lunch. Chippens is a Filipino buffet restaurant. Its food ranges from appetizers to desserts. Then I went to Aldevinco Shopping Centre and bought souveniers at a store called Alvic's batic shop. Then I continued my shopping in Gaisano Mall. I had my dinner and went back to my hotel.

Day 4

I headed back to the beach again. THis time, I was there until the afternoon. And then, I went back to my hotel to rest. I went to Holiday's Resort and Spa after that. The massage was good so if you are travelling to DAvao, you must visit this place. I took a cab to victoria plaza and shopped a bit there. I also had my dinner and took a jeepney back to my hotel.

Day 5

I just stayed in the hotel until it was time for me to go to the airport to catch my SilkAir flight back to Singapore.
